Cheongseju Refined Rice Wine
병영양조장
Cheongseju is a type of Yakju, a refined Korean rice wine, crafted by Byeongyeong Brewery in Jeollanam-do province. Offering a lighter alternative to Soju, it's meticulously brewed with rice and a selection of medicinal herbs. The result is a subtly sweet and clean profile, complemented by a gentle grain aroma and a smooth, medium-bodied palate. Its versatility makes it an excellent partner for a wide range of Korean dishes.
For a truly authentic experience, pair Cheongseju with a Jeollanam-do specialty: Heotjesabap, a bibimbap variant traditionally prepared for ancestral rites, featuring an array of seasoned vegetables and delicate seafood. The clean and subtle sweetness of the Yakju gracefully complements the umami richness of the bibimbap. Alternatively, consider a delicate steamed white fish with ginger and scallions. The light body of the Cheongseju will not overpower the delicate flavors of the fish, while its herbal notes enhance the aromatic ginger.
